2023 Annual Holiday Party
2023 Annual Holiday Party
Our 2023 Annual Holiday Party at the Vienna Community Center was a great success! We had over 140 survivors (from all THREE of our Centers), family members, SCC staff and other folks from our community in attendance! There was tons of laughter, food, door prizes and dancing–but mostly it was just so fun to GATHER!! A special thank you to the members of the Consumer Advisory Council who hosted the event, King Street Bluegrass who provided wonderful entertainment, and our resident photographer, Jenifer Morris, who captured the event beautifully.
2023 Stroke Comeback Trail
2023 Stroke Comeback Trail
A heartfelt thank you to our entire Stroke Comeback Center community for making the 4th Annual Stroke Comeback Trail such a big success! Our community came together to support stroke and brain trauma survivors and spread stroke awareness in recognition of World Stroke Day.
This year’s event included over 240 participants, including 45 survivors, from 14 states and Italy! Our Stroke Comeback Center community came together to support survivors and their families along their road to recovery. Together you proved that there are no stop signs on that journey!
Stroke Comeback Center would like to extend a special thank you to our sponsors JM Alliance, Koches Family Foundation, and H&M Transport.
Congratulations to our prize winners – Lawrence Dilworth of Team LAD for the largest team, Matthew Sullivan and his team Matthew’s Fight Back Club for the most fundraising dollars, and Shawn Miller for his social media post.
See you next year on the Stroke Comeback Trail!
2023 Kalikie Classic
2023 Kalikie Classic
What an incredible day we had hosting the 15th Annual Kalikie Classic on September 20th at Raspberry Falls in Leesburg. More than 80 golfers came together to enjoy the glorious weather and fabulous course, while supporting the center’s mission of providing long term services and support to stroke survivors, regardless of ability to pay. We are so grateful for everyone’s support!
Special thanks go to this year’s Kalikie Partner, Double Wood Farm. Other major sponsors include the Peter Knapp Realty Group, Comfort Keepers Home Care, Joanne Addas, Assisting Hands Home Care, the Coyle Family, and Chris & Christie “Kalikie” Arnold.
This year’s Kalikie Cup trophy was won by Shaun Quartier, Ashley Sikora, Bryant Pybus, and Mike Pybus. Congratulations to a great group of champions!
Christie and everyone at Stroke Comeback are looking forward to hosting the 16th Annual Kalikie Classic next year. Mark it on your calendar – September 18, 2024 at Raspberry Falls. We hope to see you there!

2023 Thriving with Aphasia Celebration
We were thrilled to welcome a capacity crowd on June 29th at the State Theatre for our 2nd Annual Thriving with Aphasia celebration. We enjoyed great live music from the Surf Jaguars and a truly inspirational program presented from Stroke Comeback Center members Kitti Tong, Erin Adelekun, and Chris Vincent, who shared how they not only live, but thrive, with aphasia. Scroll through these photos to share in this magical night. We are so grateful to Jenifer Morris Photography for providing her services for this great evening!
Stroke Comeback Center would like to extend a very special thanks to our sponsors who made this wonderful evening possible. THANK YOU!

A great time was had by all at our Family Picnic at Lake Fairfax Park on June 4. Over 100 members, family and friends attended. The food was great but the company was better. Once again, Mother Nature was on our side. Scroll through some fun photos below!
