2024 Stroke Comeback Trail
2024 Stroke Comeback Trail
Thank you to all who supported our 5th Annual Stroke Comeback Trail! Your efforts were essential in supporting our community of stroke and brain trauma survivors and spreading stroke awareness in recognition of World Stroke Day.
This year’s event included over 200 participants from 12 states and China (!) and included 40 survivors. Our Stroke Comeback Center community came together to support survivors and their families along their road to recovery.
Together you proved that there are no stop signs on that journey!
Stroke Comeback Center would like to extend a special thank you to our Platinum Sponsor, Adventist HealthCare.
Congratulations to our prize winners – Lawrence Dilworth of Team LAD for the most fundraising dollars, Team OBX for being the largest team, and Erin Adelekun for her social media post.
2024 Kalikie Classic
2024 Kalikie Classic
We couldn’t let Mother Nature get the best of the 16th Annual Kalikie Classic! On our new date of October 9th, we were thrilled to welcome great weather and more than 80 golfers to the beautiful greens at Raspberry Falls Golf Club. We are so grateful for everyone’s support – not only raising stroke awareness in our communities, but also supporting the center’s mission of providing long term services and support to stroke survivors, regardless of ability to pay.
Special thanks go to this year’s Kalikie Partner, Double Wood Farm. Other major sponsors include the Peter Knapp Realty Group, Comfort Keepers Home Care, Joanne Addas, Assisting Hands Home Care, and Chris & Christie “Kalikie” Arnold.
This year’s Kalikie Cup trophy was won by Didi Bartakke, Charles Culkin, and Wayne Johnson. Contest winners include Jacob Kuchta and Christina Bartlett for the longest drive, and Bryant Pybus for Closest to the Pin and Line. CONGRATULATIONS!
Christie and everyone at Stroke Comeback are looking forward to hosting the 17th Annual Kalikie Classic next year. Mark it on your calendar – Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Raspberry Falls. We hope to see you there!
A Day Out At the Park
A Day Out At the Park
Through the generosity of the Washington Nationals, eighty stroke survivors, SCC team members, family, and friends gathered for a baseball game at Nationals Park on Saturday, September 28. We were treated to glorious weather and a Nats win over the playoff-bound Phillies! More importantly, we celebrated being together out in the community. Thank you, Washington Nationals!
2024 Thriving with Aphasia
2024 Thriving with Aphasia
We were honored to welcome a capacity crowd for the 3rd Annual Thriving with Aphasia celebration on June 20th. We enjoyed great live music from the Surf Jaguars and a truly inspirational program presented from Stroke Comeback Center members Jerry Shrouds and Pat Horan who shared how they not only live, but thrive, with aphasia. Scroll through these photos to share in this magical night. We are so grateful to Jenifer Morris Photography for providing her services for this great evening!
Stroke Comeback Center would like to extend a very special thanks to our sponsors who made this wonderful evening possible. THANK YOU!
2024 SCC Family Picnic
2024 SCC Family Picnic
Great weather, delicious food, but most importantly WONDERFUL people made for a fun afternoon. We had almost 100 members, families and friends at this year’s picnic at Lake Fairfax. It was great to see faces from all 3 of Centers (Vienna, Rockville and Virtual).
A special thank you to the Consumer Advisory Council who organized the picnic and worked extra hard assisting with set up, clean up and other special duties!
