On September 21, past and present SCC members, their families and other community partners enjoyed a festive day the Vienna Moose Lodge. We celebrated the SCC’s 20th anniversary with delicious BBQ, SCC trivia, a 50/50 raffle and a lot of fellowship. We had over 140 folks join us for the celebration. We are so grateful for our wonderful community of stroke survivors.

Stroke Comeback Center depends on private donors to keep the doors open. Our regular fee for members covers only 50% of our costs to provide quality programs. Over 25% of our members attend at a reduced fee.

This class is designed to improve expressive and receptive communication skills in an interactive setting. Using barrier tasks, participants practice language skills and conversational strategies to clarify and repair.
For members who want to step outside their comfort zone to practice high level language tasks including spontaneous dialogue, flexible use of language, and experimenting with different speaking styles.
Challenge your language through use of games. This class focuses on vocabulary, spelling, and word retrieval skills. For members who communicate at a conversational level.
Challenge your language and logic while learning new board games and card games. We will learn new games together and once mastered, create a review to share with other SCC members.

Everyday practice with numbers and money including understanding and saying numbers, paying bills, managing money and functional role playing.
This class is for stroke survivors who want to learn about artificial intelligence (AI). We’ll explore how AI can help with everyday tasks, thinking, talking, and having fun. No experience needed — just come curious!
Members will play a “Go Fish” style game, but anything goes! Members are encouraged to use verbal description, gesture, writing, etc. This class aims to focus on word retrieval strategies and compensation techniques.
Members are given a photo or video prompt each week. On their own, they create a written story. Members come together in class to share their creative writing and edit/clarify each other’s work.
